Sonia Wheeler BA (Hons) FPFS

Sonia is passionate about financial planning and building financial plans for private clients, combining Chartered Financial Advice with bespoke Wealth Management to help achieve clients’ objectives and goals.

Sonia celebrates 20 years in financial services in 2023, and is well regarded as a holistic financial planner. She was appointed as Managing Director of Essential Wealth Management in 2012 and subsequently purchased the business from founder, Helen Newport.

Sonia is a Fellow member of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Sonia’s clients typically include:

Working as your financial planner
A financial review with Sonia will typically include an initial call and at least two, often three, meetings. You would have an audit of your affairs produced and a financial plan written. Financial plans are bespoke, taking into account all your financial matters. A financial review with Sonia starts from £3,500. Sonia divides her time between our Newbury office and central London.

We provide a complete ongoing service. Sonia would work with you as your financial planner and you would also have a dedicated office-based client manager, managing your financial administration and keeping your audit, known then as your financial book, updated.

Awards and accolades 
In 2018 Sonia was awarded ‘Wealth Adviser of the year 2018 – UK’  by Acquisition International and was voted ‘Financial Adviser of the Year – South East’ in the Women in Financial Advice awards, where she was also awarded Highly Commended in the overall category.  In 2016 Sonia achieved ‘Best Female Wealth Adviser – UK’ awarded by Corporate Vision.

Interests
Sonia has a young son and and when she is not working, she is with her family and their pets.

Sonia has taken part in a variety of charity events and since joining Essential Wealth in 2006, we have raised and donated over £50,000 for charity. In recent years, Sonia persuaded the team to walk 20 miles for the Bliss charity, raising over £5,800 and then 20 km for YoungMinds, where we raised and donated over £4,400.
