Sonia Wheeler BA (Hons) FPFS

Sonia is passionate about financial planning and building financial plans for private clients, combining Chartered Financial Advice with bespoke Wealth Management to help achieve clients’ objectives and goals.

Sonia celebrates 20 years in financial services in 2023, and is well regarded as a holistic financial planner. She was appointed as Managing Director of Essential Wealth Management in 2012 and subsequently purchased the business from founder, Helen Newport.

Sonia is a Fellow member of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Working as your financial planner
A financial review with Sonia will typically include an initial call and at least two, often three, meetings. You would have an audit of your affairs produced, a thorough review of your affairs and a financial plan prepared. Financial plans are bespoke, taking into account all your financial matters and objectives. A financial review with Sonia starts from £5,000. Sonia divides her time between our Newbury office and central London.

We provide a complete ongoing service. Sonia would work with you as your financial planner and you would have a dedicated office-based client manager, managing your financial administration and keeping your audit, known then as your financial book, updated.

Interests
Sonia has a young son and when they are not working or at school, you can usually find them out in the countryside with their dog and horses.

Sonia has taken part in a variety of charity events and since joining Essential Wealth in 2006, we have raised and donated over £65,000 for charity. In recent years, Sonia has persuaded the team to undertake various challenges and for 2025, this time instigated by Marc, we will be running 10 x 10k runs. Our chosen charity for 2025 is the Newbury Soup kitchen, supporting homeless, lonely and vulnerable adults in West Berkshire.
